Aroha Fellowship caters for all ages of people with intellectual disability. It was started in 2007 after the church was approached by the Community Liason Chaplaincy (now Enrich) that was established following closure of The Templeton Centre, and distribution of residents throughout the wider community.
Typically around 30-50 people attend from all over the city, although mostly from the North & East. Carers stay with attendees who enjoy participating with singing, a Bible story or lesson, and typically much interaction. It is their service.
We do not provide transport, but do assist people with wheelchairs and mobility aids.
Feedback from participants confirms that it is a positive, faith experience for them, and they look forward to coming.
